Stare in the eye of Namibia’s graceful big cats at Okonjima. Look forward to exciting game viewing in the famous Etosha National Park, explore Twyfelfontein and its native traces. Discover the remnants of the German colonial era in Swakopmund. Treat yourself to the endless expanse of the world’s oldest desert, where the stars seem closer enough to touch, the colours and ochres of the giant dunes in Sossusvlei marvels. Last but definitely not the least, wow yourself to the seemingly endless sand of the Kalahari Desert.

It is possible to add nights in other regions to discover more, book more upmarket accommodations, or linger longer in certain areas to relax.

Day 1: Arrival/Windhoek

Arrival at Windhoek International Airport. You will be met by our local representative who will hand over the travel documents, explain the trip and assist you to pick-up the rental vehicle. Get a first impression of the African Savannah as you drive through the Avis mountains to windhoek city. You overnight at Arebbusch Travel Lodge which is located in one of the last remaining green spaces in Windhoek.

Day 2: Okonjima Nature Reserve

Your Namibia discovery starts today with the road to Okahandja. Here you can visit the woodcarver’s market before continuing north to Okonjima Nature Reserve. Home to the AfriCat Foundation, Okonjima has dedicated itself to the protection, conservation and preservation of African predators, especially cheetahs and leopards, that have been rescued from irate livestock farmers. Here you can take part in game activities offered by the reserve such as radio- tracking leopards from open game viewing vehicles and see these beautiful predators roam freely in their natural environment and catch their prey before your eyes.

Day 3: Etosha National Park

The Etosha National Park is waiting for you. But before that, take part in a guided non-private morning tour of the Africat Foundation. Drive to Etosha National Park, you can join the afternoon excursion of the park, and return to the camp at sunset. Etosha Safari Camp is situated about 9 km south of the Andersson Gate (near Okaukuejo). Built on a small hill, the spacious chalets are creatively designed with a craft hand. A large swimming pool is at your disposal. The restaurant and bar are designed to resemble a “Shebeen” (traditional bar) representing the vibrant lifestyle of a little township.

Day 4: Etosha National Park

Enjoy a full day of extensive game viewing in Etosha National Park. Home to 114 species of mammals, 340 species of birds of which about a third are migratory and 110 species of reptiles. The park is divided different vegetation zones, with the centre of the park being dominated by the “vegetation zone” salt pan with hardly any vegetation at all. Furthermore, there are wide open grasslands mixed with woodlands of Camelthorn and Mopane savannah. During your excursion of the park, you can expect to see abundant wildlife that congregates around the waterholes and on the open plains.

Day 5: Twyfelfontein

Continue your journey into the beautiful Damaraland. En route you stop to visit the Petrified Forest, the fossilized remains of tree trunks that flooded into the area some 260 million years ago.

Day 6:  Twyfelfontein

In the morning, together with the guide of the lodge and 4x4 vehicle you go in search of desert-adapted elephants in the dry beds of the Huab and/or Aba- Huab rivers. Desert elephants are African savannah elephant which have adapted to extreme arid conditions. Once widespread in Africa, they are now found only in Namibia and Mali. In the afternoon you can go for a two-hour hike on the slopes of Twyfelfontein to see some of over 2,500 rock engravings. The famous Twyfelfontein site is a vast mountainous cirque dominated by a chaos of smooth, red rocks, as if fallen from the sky, with 2500 rock engravings, engraved by Neolithic man. 13 walls also contain rock paintings. Afterwards visit of the Organ Pipes and the Burnt Mountain.

Day 7: Swakopmund

Continue your journey south to Uis, a small mining town past the highest mountain of Namibia, the Brandberg. You can take a detour to Cape Cross, where you find one of the biggest accessible seal colonies along the coast. Continue travelling south to Swakopmund, the small coastal town.

Swakopmund is often considered the “playground of Namibia” for the numerous activities this colonial architectural town offers. You have time to explore this small coastal town and indulge in many activities of choice such as visiting the museum, aquarium or the Kristall Galerie, scenic flights, quad biking and boat cruises.

Day 9: Sossusvlei

Continue your journey into the Namib Desert to Sesriem. Scenic views all the way. After a long drive you can relax around the bar, refresh yourself at the pool with stunning view over the magnificent desert or simply watch the sun beautifully fade out in desert hills.

Day 10: Sossusvlei

An early departure to the highest dunes of the world at Sossusvlei allows you to witness the beautiful changing colours of the sand dunes while the sun rises. There will be ample time to explore this unique area on foot. If you feel energetic enough you can attempt to climb one of the dunes before heading into Dead Vlei. The dunes in Sossusvlei form part of the Namib Sand Sea which was recently declared a world heritage site by UNESCO. You return to Sesriem where you can explore the 30 metre deep Sesriem Canyon on foot just before heading back to the lodge.

Day 11: Kalahari

Today your journey continues east into the Kalahari Desert, home to the San /Bushmen and stretches across Eastern Namibia, providing moments of great solitude and poignant reflection as you gaze across the great stretches of open sands, dotted with a variety of trees, shrubs, and acacias. You can explore this magical place where some well-placed rain can transform the seemingly endless sand into an area of blossoms, flowers, and blankets of grass in the springtime.

Day 12: Windhoek

Today you travel to the last stop of your trip. Enroute to Windhoek, witness the changing landscapes as the Kahari desert fades into the Auas mountain range. You overnight at Auas Safari lodge situated in the Auas Mountains where abundant bird and animal species provide endless opportunities for capturing striking photographs.

Day 13: Departure

Your discovery Namibia journey ends today. After a leisurely relaxed breakfast, you are transferred to Windhoek International Airport for your homeward journey.
